How My First Hub Ever Got 12,000 Views In Its First Week Published
64On Monday, May 24th, I published my first article, or "hub", on HubPages.com, a website dedicated to user-written content on all manner of topics. One week later, that hub had amassed over 12,000 page views and 60 comments. It wasn't until I had told the friends who got me into HubPages about it that I realized I had accomplished a pretty cool feat.
Before deciding on a topic to write my first hub about, I took the time to read a few articles about generating traffic, choosing keywords, and spotting opportunity. I'm sure I didn't read anything that most "hubbers" don't already know, but I definitely applied it.
On Sunday, May 23rd, the two and a half hour finale of the beloved
television series "Lost" aired on ABC. Being a complicated show with
all kinds of mysterious twists and plot lines that frustrate the
viewers as much as it intrigues them, I had a good hunch that the
staggering number of Lost fans would be seeking solutions to their
unanswered questions by the end of the night. I felt that I had a good
grasp on what was going on, so I jumped on it. This would be the topic
of my first hub.
I live in the Eastern Time Zone, in the U.S.,
so my first advantage was that I had seen the show up to three hours
earlier than a greater portion of the country. I knew that the sooner I
got my hub up and online, the higher in the chain of similar sites to
come I would be.
For the title of my hub, I took a gamble. I
did keyword searches on google and decided on "Lost Ending: Explained".
This keyword yielded very little results. I knew that this could be
good, but for insurance, I made sure to include any other keywords that
might do well, even the overused ones, in my article too for search
engine optimization. 11,500 of my 12,000 views came from search engines like google and yahoo.
Maybe
I got lucky. Maybe I just went for something too obvious. Considering
the topic I chose, I don't expect the hub that did so well for me in
its first week to keep the traffic coming for much longer, but 12,000
views is 12,000 views, no matter what way you look at it, and I'll take
it, even if just for a week.
My Other Hubs:
- Lost Ending: Explained
I just watched the series finale for ABC's hit television sci-fi/drama. Like the rest of you, I'm sure, not all of the mysteries that I wanted solved were covered. Surprised? I'm not. As I had expected, the...

Congratulations!! It took me quite a while to get 10,000 views. Great Job!
I'd call it an anomaly, if I didn't already think you were a genius from reading your Lost Hub. Congratulations.
hi Joe, great work for a new hubber, I'm still hopeing I can get 1000 hits, to look at any of my hubs. Have decided to follow you has you just might have hit on something special.
well done joe.have been reading and commenting on your hub for about a week now found it an eye opener. just like to know have you reached your own final conclusion to lost or are you still open minded? perhaps you will let us know soon.thank you.
If anything this is a great testament to keywords, and something that should be greatly noted. I wrote a similar hub relating to the Lost ending, but I didn't come nearly close to that many views.
You definitely tapped into the exact keywords that everyone was searching for and wrote an article that had the perfect keyword density. Perhaps beginners luck, but you know what they say about that - it's a sign that your doing something you have potential to be incredibly good at.
Well done Joe. This should be something celebrated - HubPages is actually tapped into Google and can be used to gain massive amounts of traffic. And in your first week. Amazing.
Dude, you must be lucky one :))) or very smart.
Amazing feat !!! Keep up the good work !

I was hoping you'd make a hub on this, as what happened with your Lost Ending: Explained really is an amazing and interesting case! Congrats! :-)
